The King and Queen visit Sveriges Television

On Thursday 1 February, The King and Queen visited Sveriges Television at Gärdet in Stockholm to find out about SVT's public service assignment, its work in connection with preparedness and security, and the planning for the 2018 election.

The visit began with a review of SVT's public service assignment by CEO Hanna Stjärne, Head of News and Sport Anne Lagercrantz, Head of Security and Preparedness Thomas Nilsson and Eva Landahl, SVT's presenter for the 2018 election. They spoke about topics such as how changes in the media landscape affect SVT, the role of journalism in democratic society, SVT's planning for the election and SVT's responsibility for preparedness.

There then followed a tour of the premises at Gärdet. The King and Queen visited SVT's news editorial team and the Morgon studio, and learnt more about how SVT works with journalistic relevance and the challenges of being both fast and accurate when reporting live.

The King and Queen also had the opportunity to meet documentary film maker Åsa Blanck and nature film maker Henrik Ekman.

The visit concluded with a discussion on SVT's role and how the company aims to create added value for both society and individuals.
